Let Kids Rule the School

Recently, a group of eight public high school students in western Massachusetts designed and ran their own school within a school.  The results highlight the importance of providing all students the opportunity to have a voice and choice when it comes to their high school experience.  Read more about this project in Susan Engel's NY Times Op-Ed.  I am reminded of the suggestion of Joan Diamond, the founding principal of the Venture School in San Ramon - consider the potential impact of creating schools within schools and allowing students, families and teachers the option of participating in a more innovative approach to education.
